Models Own Matte Top Coat

I bought the Models Own Matte Top coat when they had their big 50% off sale. After trying the Barry M Matte Black which I did a post on here, I fell in love with the matte effect and wanted to try some of the colours I already owned and see what they looked like matte as I’d seen a couple of bright matte nails on pinterest which looked amazing. When I saw this on Models Own I knew I had to have it and as it was only £2.50 in the sale I couldn’t exactly say no.

I love the effect it gives and I am in love with bright matte nails. I have tried it with Models Own Pink Punch and Barry M Vivid Purple. They both looked amazing but I think I preferred the Pink Punch because it was so bright.

The only downside I found with this product was the matte effect seemed to wear off after a day and I had to top it up to get rid of the shine. I’m not sure I would buy it again only for this reason. I might try another brand to compare lasting times.

Models Own Sale Haul

As you may all know I am a huge nail polish addict so when I saw Model’s Own was having a 50% off sale I had to get some, it would have been rude not to. I even got up especially which was probably a mistake as we crashed the site when the sale went live but after a lot of perseverance my order went through. I only ordered it at 11am yesterday and it arrived today. I haven’t tried any of it yet as I cant decide what colour to use first but here’s what I got

Maybelline Street art Top Coat

As mentioned in my after exam haul post I couldn’t resist trying the Maybelline color show Street Art Top coat. I started off with Barry M in Blue Grape with an accent nail in Sally Hansen in Bling-Tastic. I really liked this look even without the street art top coat. However I am completely in love with the street art top coat. It is amazing and looks great. I couldn’t stop looking at it and can’t wait to wear it again. Only downside, it’s not the easiest to get off but I can definitely look past that. I highly recommend you give it a go.

Matte and Sparkle

After leaving my exam and not feeling it went amazing today I decided to treat myself to some nail varnish as there were 2 for £6 offers on Barry M and Rimmel nail polishes and I had a couple of pounds on my points card.

I’ve been intrigued by the Barry M matte nail paints since they came out but normally being a glossy girl I wasn’t brave enough to give it a go but today I picked up espresso and I am so glad I did.

Normally they are £3.99 which is a bargain anyway but at 2 for £6 including the gelly range I couldn’t say no as I’ve been wanting Blue grape for ages

I really love the matte effect and I now kind of want to buy the rest of the range luckily its too much effort to pop to Superdrug.

I decided to jazz up my nails with some sparkle to make my exams seem less gloomy but wanted to try something different to my usual accent nail.

I grabbed some tape and my Models own juicy jules, made some diagonal lines and ta-da.

I’m pretty chuffed with them although my right hand needs more practice.

As Blue As The Ocean

I’ve had this nail polish since they were first released but I have never used it, not sure why. I’m not entirely sure how I feel about it but I think I like it. Its the Revlon nail art Moon candy in galactic which is a double ended nail polish with a base colour and a holographic glitter top coat.

The top coat is kind of like foil strips in shades of turqoise and blue with a dark blue base coat. I love the effect I’m just not so sure on the texture. Even with another top coat bits of the foil stick out. I do love the colours though and the effect reminds me of mermaid tails. However this stuff is a pain in the ass to get off. It stained my nails and the foil stuck worse than glitter. Kind of scared to try it again because my nails are already in a bad state but I do adore the colour and effect it gives.

Black and Gold

I’ve had this gold nail varnish since the summer but haven’t got round to using it, now I wish I’d tried it sooner. I’m loving having dark nails at the moment because it’s a nice change from the bright in your face nails I rocked all summer. I decided to do black with sparkly gold accent nails. I was going to do just a ring finger accent nail but one nail of glitter just wasn’t enough.

I opted for Barry M in Black with Azature in champagne. The azature polish contains real diamonds and is £17.00 which I would never spend on a nail polish but I got it in the Selfridges beauty box I got in the summer and I am so happy I did. As expected from a £17 polish it lasted well and it was so glittery I couldn’t stop staring at it. I also ended up with Black & gold by Sam sparro stuck in my head every time I looked at my nails.

I am sure this look will reappear many times and I may even wear it on Christmas day.

This was the only semi decent picture I got but I plan on doing it again soon so will post more pictures of the glittery goodness.

Models Own Velvet Goth

As mentioned in my Chester Haul post I recently purchased Absinthe from the Models Own Velvet goth collection. I have wanted to try this ever since I saw the first swatches but was hesitant as I really don’t like the feeling of velvet and this has a velvet lid.

I popped into boots and had a feel and decided I could just about cope with it. I’m so glad I did as I love this colour. I’m not a massive fan of matte finishes so I did put a top coat on. It’s a gorgeous emerald green with loads of sparkles in that glitter in the light. It lasted ages before chipping but as with most glitters it was a bit of a pain to get off but still worth it. I think it’ll look great paired with a red for a Christmas mani. The swatches below are just 2 coats of this polish with no base colour. I’m really tempted to get the rest of the collection.
